Friends:

You have most likely heard that there were severe budget cuts for TEC and more than 30 staff positions at 815 are being eliminated. One of those is Bonnie Anderson's assistant. I'm pasting below part of a message from a deputy from the Diocese of California who is working to raise money to fund this position.

The Diocese of Fort Worth is looking very good right now. We've got so much to be thankful for and Bonnie Anderson has been a huge source of support and encouragement for us. I wonder if we would be this healthy without her help.

If you'd like to help with this, please email me and let me know or just mail a check to Fort Worth Via Media PO Box 101212 FW 76185. **

A number of the Fort Worth deputies are contributing for the Fort Worth deputation, but, with your help, I'll be so proud to send a check from Fort Worth Via Media!

Thanks!!

Margaret Mieuli

PS: Bonnie was elected to serve another 3 year term!

"As a sign of support of the outstanding ministry of the President of the House of Deputies on behalf of this House and the Church during the triennium, and to restore funding of her office to ensure adequate staff support for the ministry of the President, I invite each deputation of this House to join the Diocese of California and the dioceses listed below in pledging at least $1,000 (as a deputation) toward this effort. If at least 51 deputations were to pledge or raise $1,000 toward this effort, we can restore this needed administrative support.

In conversations that followed, I was surprised to learn that many deputies thought that the President of the House of Deputies is a paid minister of The Episcopal Church. This is not the case; President Anderson serves us and the church as a volunteer, and spends thousands of hours on our behalf, living into the reality that ours is a church where laypeople, priests, and deacons are partners with our bishops in the mission and ministry of Jesus Christ.

Before the conclusion of General Convention, we had verbal or written commitments for about half the amount needed to restore the funding needed to support the President in her tireless work on our behalf. I am writing to ask you, if you have not done so already, to join us in this effort, and to spread the word. Please feel free to contribute as a deputation or as individual deputies or alternates.

Thank you for your consideration and for your support of the office and ministry of the President of the House of Deputies."

Faithfully,

The Rev. Canon Michael Barlowe

Co-Chair, Deputation from the Diocese of California
